rear heater matrix removal/ re-fit

Post by tay » Fri Dec 14, 2012 5:55 pm

hi folks, after a bit of faffing about discovered a leak from rear heater matrix.
just wondered if anyone has any advice on removal and re-fit.can it be done in
situ by popping the top off the heater box or has it all got to come out.if it has to be a total removal do i have to get aircon de-gassed or is it ok to just undo pipework
and go for a re-gas when refitted.i've also got a stat which i might replace too,it's not a genuine mazda one so should i stick with the one thats in at the minute,if it aint broke dont
fix it approach,or replace it while the system is drained.any tips most welcome, cheers tay.

It's been covered a fair few times including complete removal (as I've just done), to replacing the A/C evaporator, changing the O-ring seals or the whole unit. Have a read through some of the more relevant threads from this list:

(sorry I don't have the time right now to dig up the specific threads you need :) )
