All the existing kit and any wiring between the kit and the original Mazda socket connect to the original wiring loom, is totally redundant - it was designed to work in a different part of the world where the frequency allocations are significantly different to what is available in Europe.
The normal process is strip out all the radio/audio equipment and disconnect aerials and wiring back to the the last socket before the internal wiring loom, you will have one aerial plug with the cable leading off towards the drivers side and a pair of sockets (8 wires for speakers & 6 wires for control etc.) connected into the wiring loom.
The ISO adaptor is the abbreviated name for "International Standards Organisation" see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectors_for_car_audio which specifies a standard for all new / 3rd party radio connections only the first two parts A & B are needed for simple radios, it is required because all the manufactures have there own plus/socket arrangements to try and lock you into their products. The adaptor is just a few wires between the standard ISO plugs and the custom ones for each manufacturer see here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-BONGO-1 ... 416e1fa8f4 is typical.
With the above you can buy any car radio, from where ever you like and it will enable you to plug it in to the existing wiring.
