I don't think the existing ducting will take the heat, but I have a few spare bits which I'm going to practise on. My plan is to fit Y diverter valve so the air can go through a new vent in the side of the panel, or up through the top vents (subject to passing the melt tests).

If you are thinking of putting an outlet in the centre between the seats check to make sure there is room to get the ducting in before making any holes.
Our 2001 diesel has a lot of EGR gubbins on the back of the engine which meant that I couldn't get the ducting through there and so had to put the outlet in the doorstep. Earlier diesels (don't know about petrol) have room to get the duct in OK.

As I have now taken the EGR off all together this lot could be removed.
