Hi,it might be worthwhile having a look at the seals to make sure you have not "pinched" them,are you sure that the fuel stop solenoid is opening when energised.You could also try some cold start or deodorant up the air intake.

PS have you put the pump AR spring etc back in the correct sequence.

Make sure that the fuel cut off solenoid has an electrical feed to it with the ignition on. If it has then:-

Remove the stop solenoid..... temporarily remove the needle valve . Refit unit.

This will allow fuel through. Crack all the injector nuts and spin engine. If fuels come out then you will will know all is well.

However, DO NOT tighten and run the engine as you will have no way of shutting it off, short or starving it of fuel.

As far as i know the seals were not pinched on reassembley.

And the spring and shims were put back exactly as removed.

The fuel stop solenoid has 10.3volts going to it ( does that sound right ) when the ignition is switched.

I can feel the solenoid click when ignition is switched on.

What if i crank it over with the solenoid completely out will that bring fuel to the pump?

Is there any way to pressurise the fuel tank to force the diesel through?

Bongo running like new.

I connected an air powered brake bleed vacuum to the pipe that returns fuel to tank and bobs your uncle.

Seems like there was air in there that could not get out.

I will take her for a run tonight to try her out.

I didn't want to add to the confusion until you got it running, but now you have, keep an eye on the back of the pump where you first saw the fuel drip because the seals you have replaced may not be the full story.

There is an internal seal between the pumping section of the pump and the distributing section where the four pipes attach. If there is a drip from the lowest set screw at the rear of the pump it will be due to a leak in that internal seal and may well become more pronounced if you have stopped any leaks from the other seals.

Obviously I hope this isn't the case but if it is, come back to me and I will tell you how to lessen the mess while you decide what to do about fixing it.
