Bolts...

Post by um bongo um bongo » Sat Oct 20, 2012 12:06 pm

Hi.
Does anyone know where to get the bolts to attach a bull bar from? The ones that are already there are not long enough & need to be approx 20mm longer. I went to Ford/Mazda & they told me as it was an import they didn't have the bolts needed!

Regards
Andy.
Umbongo umbongo they don't drink it in the Congo!!

I had that problem with my bull bars ( fender defenders to you Mike) :) Drove around for a bit with only one each of the lower bolts in place. When in for a service at Wheelquick asked Mike senior where I could get the right bolts. He gave me two for free, great service. :D

Cheers for the heads up.
I went to the Ford/Mazda garage to no avail. I have managed to get 2 bolts in securely on each side & the front 2, not sure how much bite that have on the thread though?? Good shout Northern Bongolow, I live in Skipton & had forgotten about Merrits!!

Regards :0)

The correct bolts have an unusually fine thread and unlikely to be found in the average DIY store. I ended up taking one of the existing short bolts to a specialist fastener supplier who was able to find a suitable replacement.
