TDI engine

Post by jcfc » Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:13 pm

The symptoms I am experiencing have been questioned before, having not seen an answer to this problem, I will describe the problem again:
When the engine is idling and you press the accelerator pedal to the floor the revs only go up to 2000 rpm, and at this point starts to misfire, also when motoring there is not power after 2000 rpms and the only way to gain speed is to accelerate slowly.

Any suggestions?

Problem with the turbocharger maybe (or disconnected hose to it). Or maybe blocked banjo fuel filter. Have a search for those topics.

Blocked fuel filters both the main one and the banjo strainer in the pump probably.

Typical symptoms.

Check banjo filter as it's the most likely culprit, but check / replace air filter too. Also, have you got the winter pack with the warm-up valve in the exhaust? This might be stuck closed which will severely restrict the engine.
