Taken from the fact sheet / archive section

Q: Is there is a specific power steering fluid for the Bongo, or will any fluid do? (Elliot from Cornwall)

A: You should use MERCON Automatic Transmission Fluid.

Means nothing to me but this is my first automatic. One more thing why is this posted in off message?

Woa - you mean you use automatic TRANSMISSION fluid in the power STEERING? Sounds weird to a non-techie like me :o

Power assisted steering uses the same oil as the auto box. They both have to use an oil which resists foaming under pressure.
