Fog lights

Post by southwestie » Fri Aug 31, 2012 4:13 pm

Hi to all,
I'm looking at replacing the yellow foglamps mounted on my bullbars, for some new white beam alternative.

Liking the look of these:

Can anyone advise if these are compatible with a 95' AFT?
I'm hoping it's just a case of swapping them over at the mounting points?

Cheers

If yours are like mine, its a straight swap-over. But my advice would be buy stainless steel if possible (Mister Munkey on here got some Wipacs), also go for 100W (which someone on here once said were non legal but I've had no bother). I can't find any on ebay that have the protective grille but then again, mine have not succumbed to a stone in 5 years so for average road use, the risk is probably low. But mine are chrome, and it wasn't long before they started to rust. I prevent it now by smearing the cases with vaseline, which works very well but gives them the appearance of...............brushed stainless steel #-o #-o #-o

Thanks for your speedy response!
Bad neighbourhood here, so the grills will be handy
A straight swap over is what I'm after. Just not sure on legality of spotlight power, mounting height, wiring ect.
3 points and a fine, or an MOT failure to be avoided. Have found through the web some info on legal use in driving conditions - i.e. only in fog or snow reduce visability.
Like the look, don't want to get it wrong.

Cheers

And yes sorry, mine are spots but are you talking about putting yellow foglights on again? Overall, personally, I think spots are more useful.

Will the grills deter the vandals? I guess they might

Looking to replace the yellow for bright white.

Thanks for the heads up on Wipacs. Looking around ebay, they do some 4x4 lamps with grills.

Nice one.

Thought they must. Mister Munkeys were I think stainless, with grills, so they ought to be out there somewhere. Glad to have been of service etc. 8)
