Hill Power

Post by Bogmonster40 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 7:52 pm

My V6 has been having probs lately with power loss, this seemed to have been sorted by a new set of HT leads though. Picked up my brother from heathrow on thursday and noticed that the few climbs I had to do along the M4 I was losing power, it was almost as if it would not change into gear and my speed dropped down to just below 60mph......

Anyone offer me some ideas as I am due to head off to France / Switzerland over the next 10 days [-o< [-o<

Ask your brother to shed a few stones? :). My V6 sometimes struggles with hills and I've been considering tweaking the throttle position sensor (same idea as the diesel) to tell the gearbox to kick down a bit sooner.

We had a problem last week when down on Dartmoor, so popped into Allans. Final diagnoses was possible loose sparkplug leading to a breakdown of the lead on the plug insert (visible damage) and tracking visible on the rotor arm. Replaced all the sparkplugs, the damaged lead and rotor and no recurrence of the problem since.

Many thanks to Allan for his time on Monday morning - hope you got the gearbox replaced you had been intending to work on!

Let me know if u do, this is def something i would consider doing - though it is way beyond my capabilities so would have to get it done by someone.

get your local bongo garage to measure the potentiometer (throttle switch) values when the transmission changes gear (engine rev's) 8)

Dirty filter in LPG system seems to have been the culprit. Good job I popped it into them though today as I had no idea that I needed an adapter to fill up on LPG in France and a different one for Switzerland !!!
I would have been well happy to find that out whilst over there !!
