bongo limp problem

Post by adamjlowe1990 » Sun Jul 29, 2012 11:40 am

hi ill start with a little bit about my bongo 2.5td auto

bought my bongo this year with a running problem, it would not rev above 2.5k revs, took the fuel tank out was full of crap so cleaned the tank thouroly and put new filters on and new oil. problem was still there. so i fitted a new fuel pump, water pump and cam belt and all was great again. it was running lovely for the first 200 miles and then its done the same again, anybody else had this problem, if so how do you fix it ?

many thanks [-o<

Hate to say it, but I had the same problem..turbo was fried :(

I'm no mechanic, so don't assume you've got the same problem: however, the symptoms were exactly as you describe.

have you had the banjo filter out, it may look clean when looking in the top but could be full of dangling stuff underneath if its been run on other fuels in the past. also check it has a good branded filter on, as the cheaper ones can be rubbish. sounds like fuel supply or an air leak in the supply line etc. see if removing the filer cap helps, if it does the tank breathers may be restricted.

If mine had this fault I might never know about it.

I try not to go up as far as 2500 revs as that's when it starts seriously gulping fuel.

Don't think I've ever done 3000!
