ladder cycle rack

Post by Hanksy » Tue Jul 24, 2012 2:28 pm

Hi All

I have just bought a freda and it came with a chrome rear ladder, i really could do with a cycle rack but the ladder looks cool so i want to keep it

does anyone know of a clamp on ladder rack that will clamp on, to the side if possible then fold up ...or something like that

i cant find one anywhere, i was thinking of getting some Harley / custom chopper fork brackets and making my own but would rather just buy some

The best option that I can think off is track down a Thule Backpak on that ebay.

There is enough on it to be able to quickly fabricate/clamp onto your ladder. The rack normally comes with 2 bike trays as standard. It has a hinged assembly that allows you to be able fold it up. The added bonus with getting either the Thule or similar is that you can dismount (easily) the bike trays and use the assembly to carry a storage box. The rule of thumb is not to exceed the 50kg weight limit as per the Thule.

I'm going re-fabricate mine in 3 weeks time preceisely to be able to load a 'back box' onto it.

Hope this helps
