Oil choice for V6

Post by Laverda981 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:02 pm

Can a V6 owner please recommend a suitable engine oil for my 2002 V6. Is it correct that 10-30w is best? The only suitable oil of that grade I can find is motorcycle semi-synthetic oil. The person that sold me the Bongo suggested an oil change at 10k but the fact sheet shows 15k?

10-30 semi synthetic is the best choice.
I've been recommended oil/filter changes at 10k km intervals.
No harm in doing it sooner (other than to the wallet)

To the handbook .. 5/30 or 10/30 are the recommended oils ..

The 24 hydraulic tappets 'may' be quieter when cold on the 5/30 ...

Change the oil / filter at least once a year or around 10,000 miles (or about 15,000km )

At a minimum I would suggest semi synthetic oil .. (Although I always use fully synthetic myself)...

I use 5W30 fully synthetic, initially tappy but soon quietens down.
