Fuel filter changed

Post by lazyb5 » Sat Jul 14, 2012 9:32 pm

This afternoon in between the showers I changed the diesel fuel filter. Had the devil of a job unscrewing it, had to dismantle and get a filter wrench on it. Whilst I was at it I took out the banjo bolt and cleaned the small gauze filter in there. I used my pela pump to suck the diesel back into the new filter and she started first time. My question is why would it now seem smoother than before, slight air leak on something I tightened up?

the pump pulls fuel into the pump, if its fighting a restricted filter when partly blocked it could have been running under its optimum. now it can get all the fuel it needs, its sweet.
you may also find it changes gear better too. i always run a good quality filter, as the cheap ones can cause problems with the internal valve gear.
