Door skin flappy.

I have the driver's door card off at the moment for a rewire and thought I would give it some TLC, rustproofing the inner bottom seam and tackling any other problems. I notice that the skin has broken away from the reinforcement in the centre of the door below the side impact beam which explains why it is a bit flappy on closing.

Is there a panel adhesive or sealant that I should use to secure this or possibly some glass matt and resin. Anyone had similar? The plastic membrane has long gone by the way but lots of the black Bostik stuff remains!

Whatever you use, it will need cleaning up well, and I can't remember from the last time I was poking around in the door what it looks like, but i suspect that most repairs will break away, unless you use something like a bitumastic sealant which stays semi-set, and just melts a tad with heat....OR even a really gelatinous car window sealant???

i thought they were floor tiles, no wonder it takes mean age to walk across the floor

Why not just stick a floor tile to each slipper and save yaself a frickin fortune on home flooring

Yeah, yeah...seen the adverts!!!!

Actually, that's not a bad idea....stick the panel with spray-foam .....the builder's stuff...a friend did that in a VW...super quiet!

Some good ideas there. You can get putty strips as well, They don't make Dum Dum any more, probably too toxic. Spray foam sounds good, I have heard of it being used to fill body cavities to keep water out of rally cars. Sticks like sugar to a blanket.

Not been allowed to touch the car yet today, have had to move the telly and internet equipment untangle and tidy the nest of cables behind, move furniture and fix the dishwasher. chiz.

You could try Sikaflex, that stuff sticks anything to anything. Just dont get it on your hands, takes weeks to get off.
We were sick of the panel beater making too much noise one day so we stuck it around his ear defenders, took him ages to work out what we were laughing at. His ears were black for weeks

As long as you keep quiet and dont bring a windy chisel you will be ok. Where would us painters be without panel beaters.

we used to nick the windy chisel to knock Reliant Kingpins out, welsh plugs and everything out in seconds. brilliant tool.

I dont think they are allowed now cos of the noise.
