Rear nearside blind is stuck!

Post by Rebiam » Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:53 pm

Hi all - my rear near side blind has developed a fault where it will come down an inch then beep to tell me it is done. If I carefully pull the blind down I can feel the resistance in the motor and when I operate the switch it will go back all the way as normal. This happens regardless of whether I use the cab switch or the local switch. I have greased the runners and I can't see the rails are pinched but if they were surely it would get stuck on the way back up too? Before I dismantle the panels to look see what is going on does anyone know if there is a quick fix or if I am missing something obvious?

Cheers

There are two long strips of grey plastic that have teeth on one side & these are driven in opposite directions by a cog mounted on a motor at the base of the aluminium framework. It is possible that something has fallen down into this toothed strip so it is jamming when it gets to the cog. Should be fairly easy to fix once you've got the rear panel off. Alternatively, complete units come up frequently on ebay. I've just bought a set of 4 for a project & they were only £10 each, although they normally go for £20 - £40 each.

Mine don't beep when they're fully down. Am I missing a beep?

The blinds on mine make a sort of whirring noise when they hit bottom.
