Hi all just fitting a new cylinder head, have tappet setting as inlet 0.25mm & exhaust 0.35,got this from supplier of head local engeering shop, so have set them to this.
setting clearances top of valve & rocker arm, has a very small gap to get your feeler gauge in.but gap feels nice tight that end .
any way i have set as above. but pivet point end has lots of play, could any one tell me if this is right. DONT want to start it to fine it jumps out
head came fitted with valve & cam shaft , all i had to do is set tappets.
have looked at other post about pivet point being tighed down , will have a look at that tomorrow.
thanks for any help you give me

If possible use a dial turn indicator gauge when setting the clearances.
The problem is that with age the pad on the rockers wear to the form of the valve stem, basically making a little pocket in the pad.
Using a feeler gauge won't generally take care of this wear as they are too wide, simply measuring on the edges of the pocket.
Cutting the feeler down to around 6mm wide will help but the DTI is really the best way to go.

That is a great tip, I will remember that.

...Engineering trivia now, sorry

Velocette knew a thing or too then because they have a ball and socket push rod end split transversely below the socket with a loose dowel joint that the side of the feeler goes in about 3mm until it hit the dowel!
