I've seen the rear ladders in various places - at the risk of appearing very stupid - what are they for? Are they for loading roof boxes, roof racks? Or just for decoration? Or for something else I haven't thought of?

Hi
In reality, the "ladders" are ski-racks

It also makes it a doddle to get at the rear catch on the Mushroom roof.

A Terzo one went on ebay recently for £68 which seemed to be a bargain judging by other prices I've seen

There are two types of ladder with different mountings: 1995 - 1999 which fit in place of the left tailgate handle, or other type will fit any type as it clamps to the bottom of the door. I've just had mine blasted and powder coated and it looks better than new. Glossy metallic silver with satin black fittings:

I do have another one (1995 - 1999) which will be refurbed to the same standard, but probably wont be ready for about a month. You can also get ski rack version as per Briwys picture, but these generally don't come with any rungs, so if you remove the ski holders, there is nothing left to climb up.

I received both Ski and Bike fitting attachments with mine. Usually bikes are carried horizontally with the non door handle attached type ladder moved to a central position. But in this case I could not be bothered.
