V6 exhaust system

Post by TerryG » Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:03 pm

Anyone know where I can buy a V6 exhaust front section? Just managed to poke my finger through a rust spot, which suggests it's not long for this world. There seem to be plenty of places supplying systems for the diesel but I can't find anyone doing them for the V6 - in particular the front section.
Thankee kindly

Hi
I mean the section in front of the cat section, ie. the 'forked' section that comes down from each bank of exhaust manifolds.

Sure isnt just the heat shield you poked your finger through, if not a patch woud be the way forward or a second hand one new will be mega bucks i fear as it's the down pipes manifold inckluded if i remember right.

Could be - is that section of pipe double-skinned, ie. with an integral heat shield?

Hi,

If you have a hole in the down pipe it will probably be very noisy and might even spit a wee flame out.

Yes it is integral :!: mine is rotten to buggery  rita is right it would be making hell of a racket aswell, it will also cause havoc with your emmissions/fueling as it will drag air in past your lambda sensor causing the ecu to compensate

Glad to hear its sorted Terry.

Its a good question though.

Does anyone know if it is it possible to source an exhaust system from the front pipe to the back for a V6?

MIJ here in Walsall West Midlands have a good reputation in Bongo stainless steel exhausts ..

Although this eBay one is for a diesel .. as each one is custom made I assume that a V6 would be no problem ..

Or maybe autojapspares could source a full system ..??

My exhaust went at the start of the year and it was only an extra £80 to get a custom steel one made by RJM in Glenrothes, dont know how much was replaced though
