Front Spots / Corner Sensor

Post by Judeismydog » Sun Jun 17, 2012 7:10 pm

Hi
I recently bought my Bongo and it has spotlights fitted to the top of the bull bars, but I can't get them to turn on. I have read that bongos already have the wiring in place for spots, and when I removed the front of the dashboard I found some unattached wiring with a block to attach to a dashboard switch. Any ideas whether this is likely to be the correct wiring? I've tried following the wiring from the spots but got lost quite quickly. If it is likely to be the correct wiring, would another dashboard foglight switch (from ebay) be suitable?
Also on the dash I have a switch that says 'Corner sensor Sound on/off', and in the back bumper at the corners there appear to be sensors. But when I reverse I just get the usual beeps, however many times I press the button, so it isn't working. Any ideas where to start with this? Is it likely to be factory fitted? I'm not sure which fuse it's likely to be so I can't even check this.
As you can probably deduce from my post I'm not particularly handy with this kind of thing, so sorry if it is all a bit obvious. I'm trying to learn!
Many thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum!

The wiring manuals are here http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=36657
There is a loom for front Fogs, see the Contents page under Exterior lights for your year.
The factory fitted Corner Sensors have a couple of displays (One in the front and the other visible in rear mirror) but the switch is marked SONAR and turns the whole system on/off. I suspect it might be a third party add-on rather than factory fitted system.

Thanks for your reply and your kind welcome! As it's not a factory fitted one I won't spend too much time on it .

Was this block to the right of the steering wheel, four wires to a white block, mainly black & red or B&R striped wires? This could be for the "Northern Bongo winter pack" switch? Though some of the loom for this feature is in place, its not installed on the Southern Japan registered Bongo...
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Yes, it was to the right of the steering wheel, and was mainly black and red wires. I'm not familiar with what the 'Northern Bongo Winter Pack' switch does?
Cheers

I think you will find that is the Fog lamp switch connector Red & Red/Blue for switch and a similar pair for the illumination light.
