Is my mid bench normal?

My mid bench seats only click into two places - either right at the front, or right at the back of the runners.

Is this normal, or should it be more positionable (if that's a word!)

Seat is currently front facing - as we bought it!

Hi Scott & Sophie...my middle bench seat has 5 positions.....fully forward.....fully back and 3 in between according to leg room required....hope this helps.....Alan......ps mine is a 96 with the split fold up rear seats....don't know if that makes a difference...?

I guess something might be a bit faulty with mine then!

Anyone any idea how to rectify this?

No, the missus does the driving, I sit in the back with the passenger seat reclined, so as I can put me feet up! Very comfy!

Scott & Sophie, we couldn't work this out on our middle seat before we bought it, thought it should have more than two positions, so went back for another look & just gave it a good jiggle about , hey presto 5 positions in front of the lock peg thing and more behind if you want. Six months later - never been any trouble.
So just try a jiggle , maybe assisted by a spray of oil and see if it does any good. Think the mechanism might miss the intermediate holes if it has just been left sat in one position for a long time.

Mark & Shelly - thanks for the advice!

However,I have wiggled, jiggled and fiddled to the point where I've been reduced to kicking and beating it, in an attempt to make it work!

Lubricants haven't helped (except for some alcoholic types - which at times has helped me in the battle against it, I think!)

The missus requests that I now refrain from jiggling and fiddling with it, as apparently it isnt a pretty sight to see a grown man trying to rough up a car seat!

If it still wont work in the morning I might just evict the seats completely and pretend we have a transit van!

You could undo the four bolts that hold the seat onto the running gear and then remove the entire seat.

You could then investigate the mechanism a bit more closely.

Only precaution you need take is to order your hernia belt and join BUPA in readiness for the operation because the bench is very heavy!

pippins nearly there with unbolting the seat ,
but then put it in backwards, you will more than likley find it works in 5 positions, if so it means some lazy bugger has put seat facing forwards from facing rearwards
if so it means that the runners need to be turned see search facility or post again for instructions

If the runners had been swapped already, they wouldn't move at all - the lock will not work

Problem solved! - I took out the whole bench seat today and the sliding mechanisms!

What a job!

The seat nuts must have been tightened by He Man - the mechanisms were even trickier!
Got there in the end though with only a few muscles pulled, and just a little loss of blood!
