If the compressor pully rotates freely is this a good sign.i have sent for a belt to check the system out if nothing else.

I think you would need to ensure that the A/C is turned ON before trying to turn the pulley as its controlled by a magnetic clutch, which if it isn't operated would mean that the pulley would always turn freely! Also if the A/C isn't correctly gassed up then I think you might find that it won't engage the clutch either, but not totally sure on that!

Geoff is spot on, without the system filled, the clutch wont engage, you can force it to engage by applying power directly to it, but only for a second to test it as without gas its running dry and you'll risk damaging it.

Check that the tensioner pulley is present. It's not unheard of these to go missing as well.

Hi,
I would be very careful and test the compressor before you attach a belt to it,you could end up damaging the Harmonic Damper on the crank shaft pulley.

Yes on further investigation the A/C compressor is siezed like a good en.Garage says most imports are shipped with the coolant drained.Depending on the honesty / Sorry the professionalism of the vendor who swears a cambelt and full service had been carried out .I do wonder how they missed not only the A/C not working but the fact that no A/C belt was present. The electric windows dont work and the water pump was shot.Anyway my fault fault for using Fleabay.cant say anymore got in trouble last time.
