AIR CON COMPRESSOR BELT

AIR CON COMPRESSOR BELT MISSING.
If this drive belt is missing what symptoms would i expect to have. ( No Air con i suppose for one thing )

Thanks for all the advice.Getting very doubtfull on my purchase from a Bristol dealer.Had a number of issues,non too serious yet,but it means the belt was left off for a reason or just a gash garage as I also have a coolant prob !!

whats the coolant problem? its not unusual for 'questionable' dealers to remove the aircon belt to hide a non working system, might just need re-gassing. Cooling issues with bongo's are FAR more serious tho. Where are you, find a local bongo garage and get them to look it over

Don't name any names, but was it a one or three day auction on ebay? If he's a proper dealer, then you may have some redress in case of issues. There are quite a few well respected dealers in Bristol area. If it's a one-man-band selling claiming to be a private seller, then it is less cut & dry.

This fellow appears to be operating private sales from a home address but has links to a bristol garage.Noticed now that if vans dont reach a good price they get a low winning bid accepted and then they are relisted under the same name or one of several.I am thinking of speaking to trading Standards In bristol

Dont expect too much help from fleabay, as long as they get their cut of the money, they dont really care what goes on!

with the belt missing i suppose i can live with it,It saves fuel i supoose.but the coolant thing is really bugging me because there are no leaks.vehicle is not overheating but water level in header tank seems to do its own thing.On start up level is bearly visble.After about 30 minutes level re estabs to mid level.But when engine cools level drops?

have you tried topping it up? see if it pressurises the header? level will rise when the car warms up due to expansion

I have tried to top it up when cold and then run the engine and then did the daft thing of removing header tank cap to see if pressurised and it certainly was like a hot geyser.

I know it's not Birmingham but this guy in Worcester really knows his stuff. He does all the preparation work for the Worcestershire importer and converter JAL.

bring it too the bash at stourport next week, we can all have a poke around it, failing that i will put my pressure tester on it.
or try ian taylor around the potteries somewhere, he knows the cooling system well.

The reason could be,the compressor is seized and they have removed the belt to avoid it being activated.

Best to get the compressor checked before fitting a new belt.
