Spoiler Brake Light & Rear Number Plate Lights not working

Post by snowrat » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:33 pm

Hi All
Hopefully someone can help with this. My Bongo has just failed it's MOT because the rear spoiler brake light and the number plate lights at the back are not working.
Surely these are linked?
The standard brake lights and the rear wiper are both working fine.

Have looked for any loose, broken or frayed wires but have found nothing, any ideas?
Thanks
Snowrat

first off swap out the plate lights, 501 type (same as front side lights) then check wiring as it goes through the bodywork and into the tail gate, top right (drivers side) as you stand at rear facing vehicle.

Swapped the bulbs and doing so found that the contacts needed a good clean, they were corroded.
Also found the wires broken in the wire loom (the 2nd time I looked) which were low down in the door casing.

Thanks for your help and pointers.
