Engine cradle

Post by Gripped » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:36 am

The cradle holding the engine has a big 3" diameter metal tube, welded to brackets in the bay under the front seats. The bracket and connection is getting quite rusty on mine. Is this common and is it problem?

Mine was a bit rusty on the nearside,I cleaned it off with a wire brush and treated with Kurust and then painted with a black gloss metal paint,it still looks like new two years later!

it seems to be a problem, and only much on the passenger side for some reason? maybe cos the turbo gets hot?

If you feel the need to change it, I have a spare one available.

Yep, only on the pass. side.

I'll give it a wire brush and maybe under seal it.

All done. Rust removed, which was fairly superficial. Kurust applied, and tomorrow I'll under seal the lot.

Thanks !
