V6 sound !

Post by Gripped » Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:20 pm

Having scoured Youtube, there aren't really any good videos of what the Bongo V6 sounds like. Yes, I know what a V6 engine sounds like, but I would like to hear a Bongo V6 being revved up or driving away so I can listen to the "music." I know it's sad, but I like a good sounding engine, and I was thinking of getting a V6 next time.

If you have a vid, can you let me know the link so I can have a look?

Cheers !!

Pop over the bridge to South Somerset and you can have a drive of one.

I think of my V6 as being rather muted, particularly with the additional insulation I've added, plus as an automatic I tend not to rev it although it's good at launching away from a standing start at the lights.

Prior to the Freda I used to have a coupe that weighed less than half the weight of the Freda and with more power and there was a sense of racey-ness that befitted the car. I tend to think the Freda/Bongo is a bit more reserved, a bit more of a lady that deserves respect and I find myself being apologetic when the rev counter goes above 4,000rpm. Welcome to my weird world.

Blimey, that sounds a bit more meaty than mine. I've got the standard exhaust which is very quiet, but I do fancy a bit more of a sporty purr. Has your exhaust still got the cat fitted?

WOW !!!!! Thanks for taking the time to do that ! =D> =D>

That does sound good. I fancy a twin pipe set-up .... maybe with a K&N induction kit and a de-cat...... I wonder how good it might sound then?

I kinda hope it would then sound a bit like this V6 .... albeit without the turbo whistle.... (click "open in new tab)

In real life mine actually sounds even more meaty than my video. No bass.
I certainly get a few looks when I put my foot down or start her up.
I overheard a comment the other day at a meet "that sounds nice".. shame it was my first one so no-one really came over.... that'll change.

My father -in law says the van will sound much better when i get the hole in the exhaust fixed.
As for it being de-catted.. I honestly dont know....
Although there is a definate smell of petrol if I rev her, but it sailed through MOT.
