Sluggish Gear Change

Post by Titan1995 » Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:56 am

Right having replaced pretty well anything and everything on the cooling system [ including cylinder head] of our early model 2.5WLT Auto it now appears to be running like a dream on the engine front.

Now down to other stuff.

I notice that the auto box appears to lag shifting into the higher gears. This is most prevalent at slow road speeds. I find that if the revs are high it will take ages to shift. If I come off the throttle then it appears to shift.
Please note that I am not "kicking down" at this time.

Any fixes for this as I am sure that it impacts on the thirst of the beast?

Have a search for throttle position sensor (TPS). It's under the driver's seat and you can rotate it a few degrees to alleviate this problem.

Worth checking your ATF level too - dipstick is under the driver's seat also.

Procedure for checking level should be in here somewhere... viewtopic.php?f=43&t=54458
