Oil light

Post by sunnyjim82 » Mon May 14, 2012 7:52 pm

Am I being paranoid!?(Reading only problems with other bongo's on here makes it worse as well!)
When I start my mongo all the dash lights eliminate and go off pretty much together apart from the oil light which stays lit for approx 1.5-2 seconds longer! Is this normal or might it mean I have a slow tappit, blocked strainer or some other issue?or have I got bongo anxiety!?
Obviosly I've checked the oil level and it's spot on

The oil light on mine is normally the last one to go out... So long as it don't come back on again while the engine runs....!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

there is an oil pressure switch and an oil level switch, may be worth changing the filter to a good quality branded one,or check you are on the correct grade of oil.

Hi,

The higher the mileage gets on an engine, normally the more mail-bearing wear takes place, this can determine the oil light duration. There are other factors as well, oil pump/filter/by-pass etc etc.

It is always advisable to fit an oil filter with the non return valve/disk/dump vale fitted.

Cheers.
