Post by Hollis » Tue May 15, 2012 7:59 pm

Hi

I have been loking for a new battery for my V6 Bongo.

Is this one OK?

Also are there any tips on fitting. Do I need worry about radio codes etc?

The one I am looking at is the ABS CCA/SAE 630
Capacity 75

I think you will get better service longterm by choosing one rated at 90ah or higher. The v6 is a big lump.

Hi

Do I need to worry about the radio codes when changing the battery?

Radio codes ....yes you will need them....
Battery choice is 068 or 249 ....

068 is 70Ah which is 8Ah higher than the largest factory fitted battery.... 249 is 90Ah... in the main you get similar crank amps and same guarantee's .... yer pays yer money....
When I changed mine....I got a Yuasa 030 (068 equivalent) my diesel starts "on the button" with very little cranking over..

Mine starts on the button to, but ours are both diesels. Petrol engines can be a bit more inconsistent. And when it comes to cold and damp, if our diesels don't get a good voltage to the glowplugs then they can have trouble starting. And if you are doing short runs on winter nights so the battery doesn't often get a good charging run, and if you are camping in remote fields etc etc.

Manufacturers of domestic laserjet printers fit low capacity 'starter' ink cartridges, but it doesn't mean i'll do the same when I replace one.

You do indeed pay yer money etc but I feel more relaxed if I pay a little extra and get a battery with more reserve. And I suspect it repays you over time.
