Ok, here's my dilemma:
I'm about to service our Bongo and I need the parts. The question is which size glow plugs do I buy? According to the Bongo Fury shop I have a choice between 83mm and 102mm glow plugs. As I have a couple of spare ones in the boot box, that came with the bongo when we bought it, I thought "Easy! I'll just measure what I have and order according to whatever size it is."
The problem is, when I measured the plugs I got 87mm! So now I'm confused. Do you measure the entire spark plug or just part of it?
From the look of the spare 2 plugs I have already, they're blue print and I think the code is ADM51812. Not a 100% sure of that code as it looks like it was a pack of 4 stuck together by a label back and front and 2 of them have already been used tearing the label through the code. On the one side it says ADM518 and on the other side I have 51812. The yellow label attached to the boxes is difficult to read as it's covered by the top label sticking all the boxes together! I think it reads ADM51812.
According to the glowplug fact sheet on here it says ADM 51805
Confused as I am?
If someone could help me, I would be eternally grateful. I really don't do mechanics!
Thanks in advance
Mrs M

So what size glow plug do I use?
It's pointless asking me......... I haven't got a clue!
Re: So what size glow plug do I use?
Hi,
The 83/87mm plugs are the short "type" The 102mm are the long "type",exact lengths from different manufacturers may differ a "little".
Cheers.

When I removed mine, I had 3 x 102mm & 1 X 83/87mm
replaced them all with 83/87mm.
I think it is to do with the year of your Bongo...check the members fact sheet on Glow Plugs.

The difference in the length is in the top bit. If your top bit is longer than most plugs then you have the long ones. Age of Bongo is no pointer, Mazda started using the short plugs then changed over to using the long plugs when there was a shortage of short plugs. Returned to using the short plugs when they became available again.
For the short plugs the best ones are NGK Y-701J. NGK don't make the long plugs.
