sliding door solenoid/

Can anyone tell me where i can get one of these and how much. Just went to garage thinking it was the alarm but need a new one of these. It is for a 1999 V6 Bongo.

You certain its the solenoid & not dirty contacts on the static pins from the door to post..?

I took it to the guys that fitted the alarm/imobiliser and they stripped it down thinking it was the switch from the alarm but when they looked, they say its the solenoid, I aint got any reason to think otherwise as they have done work for me on a few occasions and never charged anything, but i know as much about cars as i do about brain surgery so dont even know what a solenoid is or looks like so i need to get me one they said they will fit it for me no problem just need to find one

Hi Buddy,

I think the solenoid will be integrated into the internal lock,there is also a power unit and relay/timer.
I would ask the engineer if he has a number off the unit.

I feel a call to Bongobill coming on lol, Tony dealt with him before he done the Cam belt and service and stuff last year think he would be the best person as seems to be a bit more that it could be and rather than keep it ongoing he has the knowledge of the Bongo whereas others dont. Thanks for all the help and advice it is much appreciated.

The door is not locking from the keyfob i have to go round and lock it, then when need it open need to go round and open it, it is a pain walking round the car (how lazy do i sound lol).

Just a thought & worth a quick check.. On the sliding door pillar you will find the door contacts, there maybe 5.? ignore the 3 springy ones they are for the soft closure... The two static ones are for the CL.. With a volt meter put to ground, touch the live to one of the static contacts on the door pillar & get someone to lock or unlock the drivers door.. ( I can't for the life of remember which of the two static contacts is for lock & which for the unlock.!)
Anyway if you get a short burst/pulse of voltage reading on the meter on either lock or unlock from the contact then it wont be the CL relay...

If touching either of the CL static contacts you get get nothing (which i doubt cuz yer passenger front door & tailgate works.?) or a constant 12v reading (which is worse in some respect cuz it can knacker the solenoid getting a consistent voltage & again, the other doors may not work?)... In which case pull the CL fuse & change the CL relay...

Its still worth giving these contacts a clean... Before starting the faff with the actual door..!?

How can i put my volt meter to ground to measure this as the wlre is only about a foot long so cant reach the earth battery terminal, maybe if i can find out how to do tjis i might be able to continue and get this door fixed as really becoming a pain.

You can put the Black lead of your meter on almost any metal chassis point and that will be earth.

Try the sliding door latch on the pillar... That's earthed pretty well..
