Leisure battery fitters in West/South Yorkshire
We have recently purchased our first bongo and whilst we have decided against a conversion we do want to have a leisure battery fitted (without hook up). Does anyone have any recommendations of garages that fit these in the Huddersfield area? Or anywhere in West or South Yorkshire? We have tried the obvious - Wellhouse Leisure - but they can't do it until September and couldn't even give us a price for it. Any advice in general about leisure batteries would also be welcomed - we intend to run a fridge (yes we are saving our pennies for a compressor fridge!) and kettle off it. Thanks in advance!

My only advice is that you won't want to run a kettle off a leisure battery. 12V kettles are less use than an ashtray on a motorbike. Best get a little gas stove to brew up on!HarrysDad wrote:We have recently purchased our first bongo and whilst we have decided against a conversion we do want to have a leisure battery fitted (without hook up). Hi, I would suggest going down the Willinton route, cheap easy to fit and a damn good piece of kit.

Contact Martin via EBay and he'll knock one up for you.

Any competent auto electrician should be able to do it for you (we don't live in Huddersfield but we used an auto electrician and he did a grand job).
I (and probably everyone else on this forum) would recommend that you get a Willinton kit and ask said auto electrician to fit it all together. It is probably the best split relay charging system on the market for the Bongo. He makes them up in his spare time and sells them on EBay when they are read so there aren't always any for sale there. He can be contacted, however, via EBay at http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/willinton&ssP ... 1543.l2533 and you can let him know that you would like one. He does the kit on its own, or the kit with a battery tray.
There is plenty of info about the Willinton kit on this forum
Have fun, and as has already been said - don't bother with a 12v kettle - use gas it's quicker!! We too saved up for a compressor cooler - we have a Waeco CDF-25 and it's worth saving up for!!
There's info on leisure batteries in the FAQ section of this forum here http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =43&t=7499 and there's also some useful stuff on the Camping & Caravanning Club website here http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co ... elp/power/

Thanks all! I'll check those out. And give the kettle a miss. We are taking a stove but we're travelling with a young baby so thought a kettle may come in handy for bottles etc but a stove and big flask it is!
