Re: let the pimping commence!
Hey Jaylee. I've been following your electrical pimps for a while now. Don't suppose you fancy hiring yourself out to other members (me!) to pimp ours??!

Pourquoi Pas?
Re: let the pimping commence!
Oh I am all over it.....

Still debating whether to put these on or not!

Arrived yesterday, picked them up this morning though as I missed the delivery!
Took out the old cassette player, not being used anyway!
Used some steel wired armour from some cable as my pro removal tool

two knives as my 2nd pro removal tool of the day

Previous owner did an alright job on the connections

My turn to splice, just used a bit of speaker wire and some red crimps usually for 1.5mm but they crimp to nothing and I doubled up the cable when I could!

Other end, for the connection into the LCD voltmeter

It works

Made a rough template out of the speaker box

Then made another rough template out of some plastic, now i need to make a decision on whather to use some aluminium or some thicker black plastic. Will remeasure it and straighten everything up.
I just wanted a temp solution for the time being whilst i make my mind up, i may still by the gauges from before. And fit the low coolant here instead.
Video to follow showing it working! Waiting on youtube, once video is up there is another question to ask. When i turn the engine off it makes a slight squeal, you will hear what i mean once the clip is up! I am waiting on youtube uploader.

Re: let the pimping commence!
Tidy job on the single din fitment..!
Funny thing is i initially used some seat grey back/table (same as the glory hole cover.) cut to a double din blank size, then cut a hole out the top half (or it could be turned over for the bottom.) to accommodate & frame the radio...
However, the thin area that was to surround the radio split while i was fettling..
& it would have been a bit tight for my 52mm gauges too, so i gave up resulting in what i have now.!
I'm a little wary of crimp connections on the Bongo wiring.. Some wires in the looms are quite thin? I solder & shrink-wrap pretty much everything due to (& this is only my experience.) the wire compressing too much & breaking causing continuity problems in the join..?
Looking good though..

Sounds more like a pigeon cooing noise..?! You sure it's not your open door rattling on the hinge, or an open bonnet shaking..?stefan442 wrote:there is another question to ask. Re: let the pimping commence!
No, it seems to be coming from under the seat. The engine basically, like something is turning over a couple of times after the engine shuts off. Wondering if its a belt.... maybe something some WD40 could fixjaylee wrote:Sounds more like a pigeon cooing noise..?! Used crimps because that's what i had to hand, I reckon you were cutting into the cable too much hence it breakingjaylee wrote:Tidy job on the single din fitment..!![]()

Whilst i was having a nose under the drivers seat for the injection pump to add in a cut off switch, will mount a switch somewhere sneaky.

Tube next to ATF dip, well i hope thats the ATF dip, Its full i know that much

and these two, looks like its an inline filter that used to have something connected to bottom and the other one is lose and looks broken. Do they go together?

Trying to get my head round this bongos engine as best i can

Re: let the pimping commence!
Fuel cut off solenoid a bit slow to switch off...?
If they have one? Hence the pigeon protest on the engine stop..?
I'm just guessing now...
Get some of these questions on the techie section.. There are plenty of folks better qualified than I..

Re: let the pimping commence!
One is to do with the EGR. I know that but still don't know what it does.so I will have to read up on it!
I cut a switch into the fuel cut off solenoid. Works a charm. Would put up pics but I don't want to disclose its position

Re: let the pimping commence!
Very wise...
So now i'm not going to tell you where i buried my immobilizer...!
This link may help..? http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... 1of02.html
I have an idea where the pipe on the right should connect up to.. I'll have a look under my seat tomorrow & report back.!

Re: let the pimping commence!
Bah, i moved all the pics i uploaded to an individual album of bongo pics now all the links are different.
This is a link to the album
http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g179/saj_1986/Bongo/
You can find the pics that are relevant to each post.
Rather than me posting 20 odd photos in one thread.
I would edit the old posts but there is no option for some reason, but it will let me edit posts made more recently.
