Oil change using Pela pump

Post by malc_s » Fri Apr 13, 2012 1:04 pm

G`day,
Anybody in Bongoland assist me with this problem?
I`ve just purchased a Pela pump thinking I would do the half yearly oil change myself.
I pushed the hose down the dipstick tube until I felt what I thought was the bottom and only seem to have extracted about 4 litres of oil ( 2.5 Diesel ).

I thought I would try and push the hose further down and got in a right panic when I discovered I couldn`t get it back out with giving it some real welly. I had visions of the hose snapping in the tube.

My question is, how far down the dipstick tube should you need to push the Pela hose to extract all the oil, I don`t want to push my luck and get it jammed again.

Hi malc_s,

If you cut a wee bit off the tube at a 45 degree angle (or a V )that will help the flow,It will stop the tube from sucking on the sump pan.

You could also measure the dip stick to give you an idea of the length of tube to the bottom of the sump.

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers.
