My MOT tester has advised that both o/s and n/s track rod end & lower suspension arm ball joints dust covers are "excessively damaged".
(there is a small split in one( n/s TRE) which is kept closed by the weight of the Bongo BUT the other 3 seem to be intact).
Various suggestions :
Replace suspension arms (£180 each) and track rod ends (£18 each)
Replace ball joint pressed into wishbone (£40 each)
Buy Slide-a-boot dust covers on eBay (£6.95 for 2) total £13.90.
Has anyone actually gone down the £13.90 route? SUCCESSFULLY?
(last for a year or two at least)
What SIZE of dust cover is best for TRACK ROD END?
What SIZE of dust cover is best for LOWER BALL JOINT?
Any advice would be most welcome.

Re: DUST COVERS to pass MOT
Hi Mountain Goat
Thanks for your response!!!!
Are ady and NORTHERN BONGOLOW one and the same?
Seen the Pics
Previously viewed your suggested page and PMed relevant members.
There are no "dust cover" which match the sizes given, top and bottom holes.
The Height dimension is NOT considered.
(PERHAPS because once fitted the cover is compressed)
FAQ
Searched in vain for the DOONE addition to FAQ(closed no additions accepted?) and checked Parts database.
(if anyone knows how to find the path please let me know)
Has the extension of the scope of MOT (from 01/01/2012) any more implications for BONGOS?

Re: DUST COVERS to pass MOT
PARTS DIAGRAMS
Track rod end dust cover is Part no 332279 from lushprojects.
What size?
Has anyone managed to get one from MAZDA?
Ball joint dust cover
There does not seem to be a separate DUST COVER???
Is the Ball Joint an entity?

Re: DUST COVERS to pass MOT
Hi,
The Mazda track rod end dust cover part No is B45532279.Mazda do not supply bottom ball joints or covers for these vehicles.
http://www.autolinkmx5.com/track-rod-en ... -867-p.asp
They recon that due to the structure of the lower wishbone, that when the ball joint is knackered you are safer replacing the full unit.It has been known for the lower wishbone to half in two.
PS check No with the supplier and always give them your VIN.
