Replacing front fog lamps

Post by gasace » Tue Apr 03, 2012 6:13 pm

Hi I need to replace the front fog lamps on my 97 Bongo with bull bar. There is a huge range of lamps available but the ones fitted have the mounting point at the back of the lamp, as there is little room behind the lamp. Most of the lamps I have looked at online have the mounting point central or don't show it. Has anyone replaced these lights? and if so which ones did you use?

Thanks

John

Do you definitely want fog lights or driving lights? Personally I find front fog lamps are a waste of time, but a pair of 55w driving lights wired via a relay from the main beam will effectively double your light output which will make a big improvement in night driving.

Are they to mount on the bullbar or in the bumper recesses for the original fog lights?

Fog lights are much better in fog, because you don't get the lamps reflecting back so much, but they are no good as driving lamps, because they're designed to light the kerb and white lines just in front of the vehicle.

It all depends what circumstances need the additional lighting. Round our way, we probably get bad fog a couple of times a year, whereas as it gets dark....well....every night :)
