Removing back mirror - how do you blank the holes

Post by Dodgey » Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:49 am

Hi - I'm going to remove my rear mirror - the one at the back door - as I have a reversing camera now. Before I do it - what do you blank the holes with?

Never done it but I would put the screws/bolts back in but with a small rubber washer to keep the rain out
Or a blob of non setting mastic on the screw thread

I have a reversing camera too but left my mirror on, it does not get in the way of my view so why bother. If you are dead set on removing the mirror why not use rubber gromets. Halfruds sell packets of them in mixed sizes.

I just put the bolts back in with a rubber washer, no problems.

Thanks all. Will hunt down some rubber washers.

As to why I want to remove it - this is the "pimp my bongo" forum no?

Got shot of the awful fog lamp yesterday too. Looks much better with nothing sticking out.
