Bongo telly

Post by turbodave » Wed Mar 21, 2012 8:16 am

Hi, First time poster and new Bongo owner here. Forgive me if this is posted somewhere else, but I want position a flip down telly between the front seats and need to know whether I need to drill through to the base of the Auto top and bolt through with smooth faced bolts or do I just screw into the first layer in the van cab?....if that makes sense! Cheers in advance. Dave

Hi Dave,
this taken from a previous thread should help

'mounted mine in front of the cab roof between two front seats....only problem with this is you cant see out of the rear view mirror when driving if the kids are watching it.....hey its asmall price to pay for a 10.4'' dvd player!!! you can always use a head rest dvd player i guess...
I have a PMS H3 istalled so i have run the main power to this unit.....

If i was keeping the van i would have mounted on the small access panel and poked the wires through between the upper air vents and the main large trap doo, only draw back would have been to remember to unplug the dvd cables before lifting the roof...( and i would have run another set of main power dvd outputs at the rear of the upper compartment so you can watch up there also)...

but for ease of fitting i put in the front area....the dvd player comes with a metal plate to mount to the roof...the roof lining isnt that strong...the way to get around this is to find your mouting point where you want it and drill throught the metal roof in the upper comnpartment.....
all you have to do then is make up a piece of 6-15mm ply/mdf approx8'' x 6'' cover with fabric and use self tapping screws through the roof and into the panel you have made....This will pull the piece of wood you have made tight against the metal roof or your bongo....( just be aware to use the exact right length screws so they dont come through the roof and your made up panel......
before you screw your dvd mounting plate up just cut small slit along the FRONT of the metal mounting plate( not the full length of the plate) in the roof lining so your wiring can slot up there nicely.....Because the dvd player is so close to the interior lights i wired in the dvd lights to the interior van lights so when the dorr opens the dvd lights come on also... hope this helps.....
