Had the van about six weeks and well pleased it is lvely and smooth.
Today the oddometer stopped working it did not change from 9999 to 10000.
The speedo is still working.
Has anyone got any ideas

How odd that your odometer should stop at the magical transition to all zeros.
I suspect it is because its mechanism has jammed as it takes rather more effort to turn all the digits at once fro 99999 to 00000 rather than just one at a time as normally happens (every mile or kilometre).

has your speedo been changed from kms to miles, as i was talking to someone who has had the same problem coz his had been altered into reading miles. eg 100 kms was on the clock now reads 62 miles

he said he moved his manually with his finger

Yes the odometer has been changed from km to miles.

How do you get at it to move the digits manually, do you have to remove the glass or can you get at it from behind.

i dont know :?: the conversation only went as far as that

but if you put your head down below the steering wheel and look up at the clear plastic cover neer the speedo, their is a couple of screws on the top of the dash, try unscrewing those and the plastic cover may come off, then try moving it with you finger :?:

OK I will give that a try tomorrow.

If the plastic is removeable it should work.

Before you can remove the plastic enclosing the clocks you also have to remove the steering column housing (3 screws) underneath housing. Then you can remove the black plastic cover over the clocks ( 4 screws I think) two on the top and also two underneath the switches ( fog & rear window ) this will then you give you access to the clocks

:( I had the same problem about a year ago. It's apparently caused because, when clocked from KM to miles the digits aren't lined up EXACTLY. I stripped mine down (I can't fully remember how, but it's quite a logical progression, if a bit long winded - screws to remove the plastic surround / screws to release the clocks with clear plastic front still on / then unclip the clear plastic front) & fiddled with the numbers until one went 'CLICK'. It then started working OK so I put it all back together. Unfortunately the next time it came round to 100 it all locked up again :x . So I stripped it down again & reset it all EXACTLY to the nearest 1000 & it's been OK ever since. (touch wood  )

 TIP: don't push the clear plastic front back in place until you're sure it's OK, that way it'll save loads of hassle cos you won't have to strip it all down if it locks up again

After fiddling around with the odometer & realising how easy it is for a complete amateur to clock 1000's off,  I now take any odometer reading with a pinch of salt - much better to go on general condition & gut feeling.

Thanks linusface

it did not take long and it does seem to be working OK now, did not get a click out of any numbers and they were difficult to move so it may happen again but for now it looks good.
