Any ideas people? The window works sometimes from both drivers side and passengers side, but other times it refuses to do anything from either switch.
Could it be the window lock button? I have taken it to bits and yes I did lose the bloody ball bearing! I was doing well until mum popped round and as I looked up to say hi.... Ping! I've ordered new ball bearings so will replace it on the weekend. Any other suggestions?
Can you bypass the lock switch? It seems quite a pointless switch.
Thanks in advance.

check the wires that go from the door to the body on the drivers side. from your description of the fault it sounds like its there.
little tip on the ball bearing thing----------------------------- climb naked into a large bin bag with the switch and a headtorch, then get the wife to tape the top up. it is now safe to atempt a repair now, be careful though to capture enough air in the bag to complete the fiddly job.
plan B ----- go to a bike shop and get a hand full of spares.

Yup its a serious point. When I was repairing mine, I worked with the appliance inside a plastic storage bin. Good thingvi did or I'd have lost my bits.Northern Bongolow wrote:check the wires that go from the door to the body on the drivers side. from your description of the fault it sounds like its there.

It's my theory that this damned switch is the reason why so many passenger window switches on the driver's door fail.Lotustuart wrote: Can you bypass the lock switch? It seems quite a pointless switch.
Why? Because when it is switched to inhibit the window up down switch, the natural reaction is to yank the switch harder, particularly in the upwards mode, and thus fracture the fragile bearing under the rocker.
Unfortunately bypassing it will probably be too late but it may help a repair last longer.
