how to remove the tailgate reflectors?

hi,
hoping to change the tailgate reflectors (paint it) - does this come of and if so how?

It's not too tricky. Assuming yours is the pre-2000 model:

- Remove the grab handles (the 10mm bolts are under covers that flip up)
- Remove interior trim and locate a couple of cross head screws that fix the centre section
- Remove number plate
- Undo the nuts at each end of the panel

I can't recall if the handle and mechanism need to come out as well. I removed it when I took the panel off to clean all the grime that gets trapped down the back, but that may not necessarily be required.

Not tried taking the panel off my 2002 Aero but as it has additional light units inside, there is going to be some wiring to disconnect.

You can do it in half an hour, although the bit which could get a bit messy is getting the trim panel off in one piece as the thin hardboard backing can tear if it has got a bit soft.
