WARNING! Bongo's being sold under false claims!

Post by umbongocat » Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:40 pm

It's come to my attentions that there are bongo's that have been bought in for servicing etc to reputable dealers. Apparently, they're coming usually from traders in the Birmingham area. The cars have all been sold and registered and are having fog lights fitted AFTER being handed over to the customer. The reason i'm bringing this up is because the fog light is a required part of the mot, and on further examination, apparently, these cars are being badly patched and bodged, have excessive brake/suspension wear, a lot of rust including structural,ehxaust/electrical faults and still getting mot's. Somewhere along the line there are dodgey mot's being carried out by certain sellers. One friend of mine bought a vehicle and was told that it had been fully servieced, new cam belt and undersealed etc by 321 Away. Found out later that this was not the case and the car had never been to them before and that it has happened before.

Wondering how many other dealers are dropping the names of the reputable garages to get a sale. I think it's important that potential buyers are at least made aware of the tricks and traps of getting a bargain from traders. These dealers seem to be coming from Birmingham but not always Birmingham and they're selling Bongo's knowing they have problems as well as just the foglight.

If you're buying a bongo and the trader tells you that it has had a cam belt, MOT's and servicing from any reputable dealer check with the reputable dealer they're claiming have done it as they will have the records.

Unscrupulous and very clever, but it means that people out there are getting bongo's that may not be as good as they think!

The flip side of the coin could be that "these" sellers have had these vehicles serviced in "good faith"... & the buck is being passed by the "reputable" back to the "vendor" when found out..?!!

This is just a different perspective.... 8)

Having said that, the MOT test address on the document should give the game away with regards to the fog light....?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
