slight leak on hoses, new hose or clips?

Post by chipvan » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:32 pm

Hi guys just so iam not off topic wanted to start a new one.

I did a presure test on coolant sytem and found 3 sepertae hoses have slight weeping from them, this was from cold .

Any ideas whats the best thing to do? ,

change hose?change clip? or just move clip and hose so it stops?

Thanks yet again guys!

first check that the gauge was acurate, it didnt over pressure the system did it.
the clips will be fine, the hose if not holed are usually ok its the seat under the hose that usually corrodes, the metal stub will have a nice crusty rust scab on it, which wierdly is on the outside of a bend when the pipe bends off the stub, or at the lowest point of the stub, strip off with emery cloth, light wipe with an oily rag and refit.
check the pipe carefullly when the rust scab is removed as the pipe could be holed.

good tips thank you 8) ,

was carefull not to go mad ,my test rig was leaking a bit so couldnt do a propper presure drop test.

Will work on that for 2mrw night!..and test after re made hose connections.

I hope i could be on to something at last,4x water leaks = unhappy bongo in my book.

Wonder if the fault of the water pump leaking and making coolant rise caused the extra presure to make hoses fail a little...mmm
