Horn not working

Post by jed1y0da » Wed Feb 15, 2012 11:03 pm

Hi, my horn has stopped working today : (

Previous symptoms: had to hold the horn buttons down for at least 10 seconds before it sounded. Then it would work fine. If i didn't use it for a day or so I would have to repeat this process.

Before i start poking around tomorrow anybody had similar experiences or suggestions?

thx

I'd try looking at the earth from the actual horn unit to the chassis behind the bumper...?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

the standard horn is mounted a bit in the weather splash area, as J says check the wiring, the horns themselves also pack up. dont fit a cool pair of audi horns like mine (tucked away out of the splash zone.)

you say horn buttons? do you have airbag type wheel? take a look behind the wheel to check for connections or clockspring problems. Press the buttons down and turn the wheel lock to lock, usuall a clockspring will work in certain places and not others. Sometimes the steering wheel earth connection for the horn comes loose too, get someone to press the buttons, if you hear the realys click under the bonnet but no sound then the problem is the horn end, if it doesnt click its the steering wheel end, OR your relay doesnt work lol
