Any reason why it can't be repaired ?

Without actually looking at it... Not yet on the suggestion front.. Can you (for the sake of security.) PM me & Geoff some pictures of the offending connector & unit..?

Re: factory fitted immobiliser ...flashing but no beeps
I'm also wildly guessing that this dodgy connector may well be shorting out through the radio loom...? The removal of the radio may well have lessened this to an extent...? I've seen some weird stuff with these wagons....

Re: factory fitted immobiliser ...flashing but no beeps
I'm thinking from the description, either a wire off the loom has come away from a spade style connector in socket to the unit...? Or something has come undone on a PCB connected to what the loom should plug into???? I could totally be wrong....toastedfrog wrote:he said something abt the wires inside the unit having snapped off the metal plate bit

Re: factory fitted immobiliser ...flashing but no beeps
well it is now!! ..the unit was still flashin ..up until it breaking i was finding i had to gently push the key towards the top to get it to beep ..so think its more to do with the connection
Re: factory fitted immobiliser ...flashing but no beeps
It wont have been a factory immobiliser, if it was it would have been impossible for the recovery man to bypass it, find out the make of the unit and get the relevant parts replaced. Be aware that a few years ago, several of the security firms went bust and made it impossible to get replacements/spares, new immobiliser fitted should only be about £90 anyway

I agree with Julian... Sourcing a replacement could be a hassle...!??
You could fit a "passive" starter kill switch...? A momentary switch hidden in a location only you know...
I have read about another way regarding the use of an amp turn on wire terminal on a radio head unit instead of the momentary switch... If the radio has a removable face plate the car wont start unless its installed..!
