steering rack

Post by kpautos » Thu Jan 26, 2012 11:52 am

hi all, i have a customers vehicle in the workshop that requires a steering rack-its leaking like a sieve, bongo shop no help but ian did give me details for a chap who could supply me with a re-con unit-[his name is vaugn] , prices were £198 inc vat plus £18 delivery then there was a £120 surcharge so you have to send the old unit back by your local courier for approx £18 so total for the rack comes to £234, does anyone have any experience of this rebuilder or any other suppliers? also he said that he can supply a seal kit for about 60-70, has anyone tried this? thanks, kirk

Vaughn - that sounds like it may be AVA Leisure (MazdaBongo.com) who have been supplying Bongos & parts for quite a while & generally considered to be good people to deal with:

i bought a seal kit, this in itself was quite expensive, looked at the job, in the manual, the how to service the rack covers 15 pages   #-o . ok if you have nothing to do for the next week, then you will need special tools, or maybe to make them #-o #-o .
ive done the top seal, and the end seals on others, but best to do the lot if you are to do it right.
i know someone who does/did exchange units at good prices, pm me if you need.
