My automatic bongo has stalled...

hi, I have just bought a bongo which I love. She has been driving lovely and I was out earlier and she stalled... It's an automatic 4wd one. Diesel. I got her going again after a few attempts and it was ok, turned the corner and it stalled again! I has been told to drive it in S, so I changed to D and it didn't stall but I don't know if that was the problem. Any ideas? Being as female with no knowledge of cars I apologise in advance if this is an easy question. Regards
