Mazda Bongo 2.5 TD pump seal

Post by Jimbob738 » Sat Jan 14, 2012 1:26 pm

Hi need some guidence

I had a leak on my diesel pump which i discovered last night i removed the problem part and it appears the seal has gone brittle im not sure what the parts called its on the side of the pump has two 10mm bolts holding it flus with the side of the pump and has two springs inside it, the seal is a black round rubber seal with flush edges. my question is anyone know where to get a replacement?

i know that on the bongo fury shop they sell a 2 seal set but is this included has anyone purchased the seals?

Thanks all help apreaciated?

The lucky people are the ones whose seal needs replacing is the easy one.

Replace it and see where the leak moves to next!

A cut down plastic bottle under the pump makes a good drip catcher to save your driveway and the underside of the Bongo.

My Bongo was self waxoyling for quite a while!

there maybe some tiny shims (discs that pack the spring) in there too, dont loose them if they are present, or look out for them.

Also make sure the new seals are green coloured to cope with todays biofuel shite.

I employ gravity by removing the filter side of the fuel line and connecting a home made funnel & rubber hose attachment. Then I add diesel fuel into the funnel until it stops flowing without bubbles. Then I start the motor running only long enough to run smooth while adding enough fuel to the funnel to purge air out of the system. I have only needed to do this when draining the pump. When I once ran out of fuel; I managed to restart the vehicle bone dry within 30 seconds!!! :)

Didn't need to prime it - just cranked it over on full throttle and it purged in no time :)
