I have chrome door mirror covers ..

I have noticed some ebay adverts for 'chrome' door handle covers are simply thin 'chrome' DIY plastic foil 'wrap'...

I got some a good while ago, proper electropolished stainless steel. They were £15 each, so £45 for the set. They do look good though, and have stood the last 18 months or so very well.

I'm not so convinced that the cheapo ones would look / last so well.

It's the Van-X ones I have, which I got via Carl (YBB). I wasn't aware that Van-X were retailing them now, and a shade cheaper too.

I always say that if you have to have it it may as well be the good ones!! I also did my handles in carbon fibre vinyl for a while that looked good and wasnt expesnive suppose the cheapest alternative to real chrome/stainless steel is the chrome look vinyl option! 8)

In answer to the cost.......
I think YBB at the time did some development work with VanX for these and the price at that time did reflect the "newness" of the accessory I would think that the price as stated on their website is cheaper as they are now a stock item.......they werent back then in 2010!

Sounds right - I thought they were pretty much a one-off run back then. £45 was fair enough for them.

I have also got the Vanx covers and they have been on the bongo for12months and still look like new.I agree that the price looks expensive, but in my experience you get what you pay for.Pay cheap rubbish prices, and you get rubbish.Cheap covers will never last and will look tatty very quickly due to the constant opening and closing of the doors. So you pays your money and makes your choice. cheers Michael

I agree. You want good stuff for a good result. Not a bad price for 3 custom made pieces of solid stainless steel and that should keep their looks 8)
