In another topic thread (http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 0b#p529850), Helen has again raised the knotty problem of what to do if you've got a toroidal LPG tank instead of a spare. I think I've tried about everything* but have recently settled for one of these http://www.dynaplug-uk.com/, plus a 12v inflater, backed up by a full size spare-on-steel-wheel back in my garage and a recovery service which will low-loader deliver the van back to it in extremis. Using no-longer-available Vredestein Quatrac 2 all seasons tyres, I don't want delivering to a tyre dealer for a replacement tyre, if I end up with a non-repairable puncture somewhere.
*(1. Two different permanent-install tyre sealant brands, including the supposedly best one on the market, using extensively by Royal Mail - both of them unbalanced all four wheels, no matter how much distributors' "expertise" was applied. 2. Space save spare carried internally - what a pain. 3. Space saver spare clamped to our tailgate mounted Terzo ladder - worked OK, but then read the pitfalls of aged space savers on max weight Bongos, with replacement tyres that size not available. 4. Holts Tyreweld emergency punture seal, which I also still carry, although almost no tyre dealers will wash it out and then repair a puncture - they all want to declare the punctured tyre a write off, and sell you a new one.)
For travel abroad, where recovery to home and the full size spare is not an option, I would probably mount my full size spare on the Terzo ladder, and curse the weight I would have to contend with on the tailgate. However, so far no punctures in three years LPG Bongo operation, and hopefully if I do get one, it will be 3/16" or smaller (97% of all punctures, according to a Michelin survey), and therefore within the scope of the Dynaplug.
Anybody else used Dynaplug?
