Driver's window kaput

Apologies if the answer to this already lies in the forum; i have done a search already...

My driver's side window is dead, and unfortunately it's wide open.

I've had the Bongo a fortnight; i noticed that the driver's side window would only go up and down with the auto switch, not the incremental one. Then yesterday it wouldn't go down at all. Started the engine this evening and the window went all the way down of its own accord and has remained there ever since.

The passenger side window does stilll work from the driver's side switch, but only the incremental, not the auto.

So in summary the auto switch doesn't work for either window, and the incremental switch on the driver's side only operates the passenger side. I've taken the switch unit out and unplugged it, but haven't started dissaseembling it yet.....

Is there an obvious solution to this?

Many thanks. Looks like I need a new switch unit. The electrics and motors work, and the white plastic sliders on the circuit board are functional, but two of the button mechanisms are broken.

Even the secondhand switch units appear to be ludicrously priced.

Isnt the Mazda 323 or 626 switch unit the same, sure I read it was ?

There is no auto for the passenger side, just the "incremental"... As far as i know..?!! (At least on the earlier models..)

The Auto is only on the drivers window.. I think it may have something to do with the ease of use for toll paying in Japan??? I could be wrong....

my work transit has got "one shot" drivers window.... fairly certain its never been to japan! does the toll booth on the tamar bridge count?

The auto defnitely works on the passenger side too when switched to the passenger side with the on button. Or did.

All the breakers charging £50-£60 for replacement so it'll have to be...

not a permanant solution but mine has always done this on and off over the years despite a new switch jiggling the wires around visible at the front of the drivers door seems to help -driving over a few speed bumps might even do it.

That to me sounds like a problem with fractured wires (or an earth wire) in the door loom Karena... Possibly to of the Vee as it goes into the inner wing..?

Do you get a slight buzzing sound occasionally too..? Could be the earth wire..??

Have you checked that the problem with the switch only affects the drivers side cab window. Does the switch still work on the passenger's side cab window when the transfer switch is used? The driver's window switch works both side cab windows depending on the position of the transfer rocker switch.

yes get a buzzing sound sometimes can hear it when the ignition is on waiting for the coils to heat just seems to be the drivers side one affected the passenger side works fine,

The buzzing; Earth wire (Thicker black one?) in the loom may have gone but just touching... That would affect both windows though.. but not necessarily at the same time..?!! I would check where it goes into the wing under the rubber sheathing in the oval shape grommet...??

My original switch was butchered by the previous Jap owner in an attempt to fix this problem... The previous owner was barking up the wrong tree! I also put a separate earth point/ground to a bolt in the actual door behind the door card....
